Shaina Mote is a young designer hailing from Los Angeles that works with locally sourced or dead-stock goods and materials. Her production is done over the span of a few months with local and family run businesses in California. In an effort to curb the mentality of fast fashion, Shaina Mote aims to provide sleek, transformable staples. By giving new options to the wearer, such as: a new way to tie, a reversible quality, etc., the hope is to increase the ways to wear the pieces over time and encourage less waste on the whole. Though the design aesthetic is modern, the materials themselves are classic and natural. Cotton, tencel, rayon, bemberg and wool are commonly used throughout the collections. Shaina Mote places an emphasis on utilizing easily renewable plant-based fibers.
